  • TS2400 to shop-vac

I must be a moron, but I can't seem to find an attachment that will allow me to attach my Shop-Vac to my TS2400 saw.

This is my vac (Shop Vac Hang Up Pro):

    I bought this attachment:

But it does not fit over the tablesaw port. The tubes are the same size. I've also looked at this one which seems to have the same problem.

I'm a total novice at this stuff, so I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I sure can't figure it out!

The problem is the adapter you are trying to use only works one way. Its designed to work as a reducer from a 2 1/2" hose to to 1 1/4 nozzle. Not the other way around. The hose end on a reducer is actually larger in diameter since the hose needs to slip into it. The saws dust port is designed to have the hose slip into it the same as the 2 1/2" end of the adapter you have, hence you can't couple the 2 1/2" end of the adapter into the saw. They are both the "female" end of the connection. What you need is an actual 2 1/2" hose or a 1 1/4" hose to 2 1/2 inch nozzle adapter.

One more thing. I don't know if your vac can accept one it but you might want to consider going with a full 2 1/2" hose on the vac. A 1 1/4" hose is too small and can end up getting small chips of wood lodged in it.

The above responses are right on the mark. I've been happily using my Ridgid shop vac with the ts2400 for a couple of years now. The hose (2 1/2) slips into the port. You may want to remove (i.e. break out) the plastic bars that are inside the port, they stop larger pieces from coming through, but can also result in blockage of the flow.

Same here. I removed the plastic bars from the the port since they just end up clogging up easily with small chips and thick saw dust from some woods. I wouldn't take them unless using a 2 1/2 hose though.
