    Those are pretty decent tools you picked out. But unless you have some demolition work to do, you may be able to get away without the recip. saw. Also, if you are leaning towards a Ryobi cordless drill, consider the refurbished 18v set. The batteries are actually cheaper than the 14.4v batteries when purchase two at a time. I think a cordless drill w/ two batteries, a corded circular saw, and maybe a Ryobi drill/driver bit set will get you off to a good start and keep you within your budget.

    Stay away from the cordless Ryobi, Craftsman, Skill, and Black and Decker cordless saws. They are not powerful enough to get you through a porch/decking project.

      and dont buy a 10'' mitre saw to build a deck, it wont cut thru 2x10s in one pass and they are more of a hassle unless set-up correctly on a stand. just buy a corded saw, corded drill, and corded sawzall, because you will need a sawzall for not only finishing the notches on your 4x4s but it will be used for other things most likely
