  • jigsaw question

I make fretwork panels from ½” birch plywood. Up until now I have been using an old ( 60’s ) Craftsman jigsaw which has seen better days. My problem is I want a high end jigsaw, but I need one that is light in weight. Six to five pounds is much to heavy. Four amps would be more than enough power, but all saws I find in this power and weight class are…well toys or junk. I need a back roller, orbital cut, dependable, low vibration saw. PLEASE HELP
    Thanks

Don't know of any quality light-weight jigsaws, but for fret work would you be better off with a scroll saw?

panels are large 18" x 72". I have used my old craftsman and the panels have been "good" but not great. As I said before no one makes a high end light duty jigsaw......then again why would they?

Can't vouch for the quality but Makita makes a 3.9 amp @4.2 LBS
