  • Rotary hammer vs demo hammer

I have heard that a rotary hammer is not really meant for chiseling even though it can operate in that funciton, and that it's better to just buy a demo hammer that only has the chiseling function if you intend to use the hammer for mostly breaking up concrete rather than drilling. Is this true? And if so, can anyone explain why?

    thx

I have a rotary, I use it to perforate around the opening with a 3/4" bit.
Then I use the chisel to break the center out...in three years it hasn't hurt it, but maybe I'm speaking too soon.

Just buy a hilti TE-76ac and be done with it. It'll handle anything you can throw at it.
        Buy cheap, buy twice.
