  • Hush Your Screaming Shop Vac

    This are not me or my work. I do think this guy deserves credit for all of his inventive designs and woodworking skills. You need to watch all three of the videos in order. I think I'll post this over in the woodworking area but just link to here from over there. I think some of us on the forum might take this a few more steps by adding sound absorbing materials and also a longer air flow path for the exhaust. As you can tell in videos 2 & 3 it does work.

    That would work well for an air compressor too...

      Yes as long as you had forced air flow though the box. Air compressors need lots of cooling air. Actually you can get and rig up intake silencers to most air compressors and they do help. What I personally hate are direct drive high speed ones that blast away like a small engine running super fast.

      Part 2: A shop vac normally has a by-pass motor. Thus the box would need ventilation as there would be a heat issue to deal with.

        Woussko is correct about the heat issue. You will not be able to run the vacuum very long inside of that enclosed case. The heat will build up fast.
