All of the DeWalt 18V batteries will work in any of their 18V tools, including lithium ion.

Maybe he's been a lurker who owns some Ridgid tools and just had that question. I don't think there's anything wrong with asking that really. This forum is very open and people discuss all brands of tools here. After all everyone is likely to own tools of several brands including Ridgid.

Since we are discussing DeWalt 18volt XRP batteries, and lithium batteries the next logical question would be...Can you charge their lithium batteries on any of their chargers?

From what I understand, no. You have to have the all yellow charger for the Nano batteries, not the black one. The yellow charger can handle both nicad and lithium though. The lithium ion charging method is different from nicad, and the black charger is an older design.

In addition to Sceeters comments the following chargers cannot charge the Dewalt 18V NANO battery:

DC022 Cordless/Corded Worklight Dual Port Charger with GFCI
              DC011 Worksite Radio/Charger

              The Dewalt 18V NANO charger:

Yes, good call! I forgot about the radio and that light. I wonder if they are going to update those for the new batteries?

                  Hi again,

Sorry if this was the wrong spot to ask my question. I've been reading posts here for awhile and saw different tools mentioned.
Searched google for the answer and spent some time on dewalt's webpage before I asked it here.
                  Thanks for the help

The lithium batteries will not fit into any other charger anyway.
