Who needs all those new fangled safety features...

I'll bet the wood runs and hides when this saw is near...

Hell no. NO THANKS. I like my fingers a little too much for that saw.

Its alright... just make sure you let the blade stop completely before moving your trigger finger more than 1/2 an inch.

I had the same reaction Tom... made me cringe.

As an added bonus, it has no electric brake and well lubed up ball bearings.

Seeing the totally open blade it commands respect and fear. That may very well make it safer than one with all guards in place. With any power tool it's the user's behavior and fear/respect for the machine that will save his/her hand or finger(s) from being cut off. I personally know an old man (mid 90s now) that sawed off two fingers with a manual one person power hand saw as in the picture below. He was tired and not thinking properly. Sadly he got one very nasty wake up call. A bit too much to drink and general fatigue got the better of him on that hellish evening He was in his mid 20s when this happened to him. YES, He still misses his fingers very much.

Please don't get me wrong. I demand guards to be in good working order and in place. My point is that seeing a full open blade spinning might get the brain to really function as it should. FEAR THE MACHINE and what it can do to you.

                True story here guys.
When I lived in Iowa USA, there was a guy up the street from me, who took a metal cutting chop saw and put a blade to cut wood on it and was using it to rip a piece of wood. Anyways the saw jammed and it broke loose at the hinged part and came apart kicked out the piece of wood and travelled up his arm and ripped him from wrist to arm pit.
He was airlifted to Omaha Hospital , he lived but lost most of the use in one arm.
anyone who uses the chopsaw in that picture would be crazy in my opinion

some of the old swing saws were not much better, and used for years,
but that chop saw in the picture is a fright,

That's a nice looking saw, but let me know when they come out with the cordless version.
