  • Big SKIL 10-1/4" Worm Drive Circular Saw

Once upon a time SKIL made a 10-1/4" capacity big beast worm drive circular saw fondly named "BIG FOOT" and that name fits. It can cut through common 4 by lumber in one pass. What I find totally wild is that there are several of them listed on eBay right now. Now if you need even more of a beast there is a Bosch listed that's said to cut through 6 by lumber in one pass! You know that one has to be a monster.

Here are some eBay listing numbers you can check out.
I recommend being very careful about bidding on any of them. The sellers may be BSing about the real condition of them.

    170316304030, 170317993355, 130297592624

And for the monster Bosch 170315241930

"BIG FOOT" is not made by Skil or Bosch but in fact by Big Foot Tools - they have been around for years. They use Skil worm drive motor on their base.

Newman is correct and actually I was testing forum members. SKIL wouldn't go putting "BIG FOOT" on their product and not also have SKIL on it standing out to be seen.

I do see a serious problem. The large diameter blades are spinning at too high an RPM for their size. Think about surface feet per minute.

Hmmmm ... This has me wondering if you buy the complete BIG FOOT saw with motor if maybe it comes geared down as it should be. I think I'll try to contact them about this and find out more.

my wormdrive spins at 4400rpm. most 10" table saw blades are rated higher than that. look at the milwaukee 10.25" circ saw, it spins at 5200rpm. I don't see a problem...

          Milwaukee has a 8 1/4" saw, 10 1/4" saw too.
          Makita has 8 1/4", 10 1/4", and the beast at 16 5/16"

Some time back SKIL did make a 10 inch circular but they didn't call it "Big Foot". The Big Foot uses the power train of a Skil HD77.

When I get some good info on the SKIL 10 incher, I'll post it. Here is some info on the SKIL HD5790 and it is not a worm drive model.
