  • What size is the quill on a Rigid drill press?

I need another spacer for my mortising attachment. The ones that came with it are too small. They fit my old DP, but not the Rigid.

It should be easy enough to measure with a caliper if you have one.

I have an older Craftsman DP and I use the Delta mortising attachment on it. None of the included adapters fit my DP. I made a shim to use between the closest match adapter and the quill. Works fine and have not had any slippage or problems. Its just a strip of shim stock that is slightly less than the circumference of the quill and the thickness required to take up the play so the adapter fits tight.
"When we build let us think we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work that our descendants will thank us for, and let us think, as we lay stone upon stone, that a time is to come when these stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, "See! This our fathers did for us."
    John Ruskin (1819 - 1900)

After playing with it a little bit, I got one of the spacers to fit. I just had to mount it above the part of the quill that acts as a stop when the arbor goes back to the top.
