    It's a sawzall, not a "saw saw".

When you try to sell me a saw saw, I want to laugh at you.

only one of many times I've seen it done.

Not to mention it's a "Dewall"

It's not a sawzall either. Sawzall is the trade name for a Milwaukee reciprocating saw. Another one of my favorites is when people call a joiner a jointer.

Or when people call NiCd a "NiCad" or worse, pronounce "Neemkh" for NiMH

sawzall has become a generic term for a recip saw much like skilsaw with circular saws, kleenex with facial tissues and frisbee with flying disks.

saw saw is just a sad sad thing to say say.

What about monkey wrench for pipe wrench? My Dad used to call it a monkey wrench, I've only heard pipe wrench at work. Are they the same thing?

So a Monkey Wrench is the one you would use on commerical nuts, like those on a urinal/sloan valve?

No teeth, so no marks right?

Looks like what I'd call a pipe wrench.

Are you sure it's not a monkey wrench too?

This could lead one to believe "monkey wrench" could make sense:

In South Africa, the terms "bobbejaan spanner" and "baboon spanner" are commonly used, especially for large pipe wrenches. "Bobbejaan" is the Afrikaans term for a baboon.

A baboon is a monkey, no?

A Monkey Wrench is like a Crescent Wrench but at a right angle. I believe it was patented by a guy named Moncky or something similar.

That may be true but advertising a DeWalt reciprocating saw as a sawzall would be false advertising wouldn't it?

Every definition I can find says that a jointer is a machine and a joiner is a person(this is not used like it was in past history) but there are plate joiners. So which were you refering to the plate joiner or the person joiner. Just nitpicking

Either one, take your pick. By definition, each could fit the scenario.
