  • ridgid 12 v drill/driver power loss

I just got a ridgid 12 v 3/8 inch lithium ion drill/driver. It works great most of the time, but occasionally will lose power for no apparent reason. It seems as though I can get it to work again, sometimes, if I pull out the rechargeable battery and reinsert it. The manual states "During some applications, the battery electronics may signal the battery to shut down, and cause the tool to stop running". This happened 5 or 6 times during the last couple days while I was driving 2.5" patio screws into 2x4s. Is this typical or should I return the tool? Thanks.

Either way I'd return the tool. If it isn't typical then the tool is defective. If it is typical, why would you want to keep it?
