  • Nail Head Stuck in Rigid Framing Gun

While nailing a wall plate down I hit a screw below and it bent the nail driving the head up into the barrel of the nail gun. It's wedged pretty good. I drill through the nail head but the edges are stuck and I haven't been able to find anything thin and strong enough to pry the pieces out. Any suggestions? Do I need to disassemble the end of the barrel? Help. Dave

Re: Nail Head Stuck in Rigid Framing Gun

I have a 350CHA and have never jammed one real bad so this from the manual has worked. Is the problem that the driver pin is still stuck in the down position or is the nail just jambed?

    CLEARING A JAMMED FASTENER
    See Figure 12.
If a nail or fastener becomes jammed in the tool, disconnect
the air hose and keep the tool pointed away from you while
    clearing the jam.
    n
Disconnect the tool from the air supply.

    n
    Remove fasteners from the tool.

    n
Insert a #2 Phillips screwdriver into the driving mechanism.

    n
Tap the screwdriver gently with a hammer. The inserted
screwdriver should push the driver blade back, freeing
    the nail jam.

    n
Remove the bent nail, using needle-nose pliers if necessary.

    n
Reconnect the tool to the air supply.

    n
    Reload the tool with nails.
