  • Chuck Problem with Dewalt 18 Volt Drill

I have a Dewalt 18 Volt drill, Model # DW 959K2 in which the chuck jams on a drill bit when hand tightened. I have to use channel lock pliers to loosen the chuck in order to remove the bit. I'm wondering if this is a common problem with these chucks?

Let me guess it has a Jacobs chuck on it....The problem has been around for yrs. At one point Jacobs came out with a new anti-lock up ratcheting hand tight chuck they thought solved the problem. Well it didnt work, I ended changing mine out to a different brand.

      Gizmoman,

What brand of chuck did you use to replace the Jacobs chuck? I have 3 of these Dewalt 1/2 inch, 18 volt drills and 2 of them have the "lock-up" problem.
      Thanks.
