  • Ridgid electric drill chuck jaws

I have a Ridgid R861150 18V hammer drill & am wondering about the copper colored inserts are on the inside of the jaws. What is the material & why are they there?
    Thanks,
    kev

I would like to answer my own question, if I may.

What you have there, kev, is a Jacobs Chuck model 713, 1 Sleeve Metal chuck with Carbide Jaws.
It's designed for 18 - 36 VDC Professional grade Rotary/Hammer drills. The "carbide jaw bite" reduces bit slippage & enhances wear resistance, even in the most demanding applications.

Oh. Thanks, you are very well informed!
