When I release the switch trigger the blade continues to go full speed. Eventually it will slow down and stop. Before it would begin slowing down as soon as I released the trigger. What is causing this? How can I fix it? Thank You!

Sounds like the switch has worn out. The switch is what controls the braking circuits in the motor.

the are several things that will cause what you describe. Worn out motor brushes is probably the number one cause. Make sure your blade is tight if it is slipping on the arbor the motor will want to slow before the brake kicks on. if your brake isn't working at all check your switch as the pevious gentleman said. But more than likely the windings in the field are bad.
