  • EB4424 Blet/Spindle sander knob completely stuck

I just got the Ridgid Belt/Spindle sander yesterday, and it seems I've run into a problem.

The knob/bolt on the top of the spindle is completely stuck. Almost like the threads are welded. And yes, I'm very aware that it's a reverse threaded bolt. When I turn the knob, the big drum turns with the knob, and no amount of force I can exert on the thing will make it budge.

I'm completely at a loss - the thing is brand new, and works very well with the exception that I can't get the belt assembly off to put a spindle on. The knob/bolt I'm referring to can be seen here:

It's the uppermost, left knob. Any ideas?

If it were me, I'd take it back and exchange it for another. You should not have to put up with any kind of an issue with a brand new out of the box anything.

It's not stuck you just have to turn it weird to loosen it. Try choking up on it with some pliers, but be careful not to rip the rubber cap off. It's tricky, but it will come off if done propery.
