  • 12in Sliding Miter Saw (MS1290LZA) won't start 2 minutes after finishing a cut

    I have had my saw for about 6 months, used it maybe 20 times. I love the thing. However, it will not turn on anymore! I made a simple cut through some very easy wood, 1/8" thick plywood. I went to turn the wood to make the next cut and the saw wouldn't start again! I checked everything including plugging it in to different outlets, making sure nothing was in the way, no breakers were tripped...
    I unplugged the saw, left it for a day and went back to try again. Still nothing.
    Any suggestions?

    Start with the switch or switch activator. You will have to disassemble the handle to access it. Check for continuity at switch terminals when activated.
    check for voltage at wire connections to switch. If you have voltage but no continuity, then switch is bad. Parts diagram should be in manual or you can get it online.

      okay, did that and apparently the switch is bad. it looks brand new. can I get a replacement easily?

            That switch should be working for many thousands of on/off cycles. Ridgid should send you a replacement for nothing. Replacing it should be a snap.
