  • Ridgid 18v Jobmax console

    Oh goody!

the 18V Jobmax inventory has finally arrived!
Yep it's in stock "on-line" only! $99.99 plus tax and free shipping.

I just ordered mine, so now I want to inform the rest of you that it's OK
for you to order yours now!

I suspect it will take 7-10 days for it to arrive.

I'll write up a review as soon as I can.

I haven't heard a peep from anyone about the newest jobmax powerhead, a pneumatic one. Did anyone hear about this before now? I just happened to see it wandering through the tool aisle today. Takes all the heads as the cordless and AC powered units. $99 for the starter set which I don't see why it just doesn't come bare with no head. If you're buying this power unit you've most likely have at least one of the other heads, who needs a third blade holder.

        Re: Ridgid 18v Jobmax console

I believe the CFM required for the pneumatic Jobmax is 18CFM @ 90PSI.
Now what homeowner has a compressor with that capacity?????

        Most pneumatic power tools are 3, 4, 9 CFM @ 90PSI [typical]

By the way the 18V Jobmax should be here today or tomorrow, I'll
run it through some tests and review it here later in the week.

Just came back from the Home Depot near the corporate HQ in ATL and saw an interesting version of the Ridgid 5 piece X4 kit. Looks like the 18V JobMax is included 'FREE' with the 5 piece X4 kit. Didn't notice if it included an additional battery. Not surprisingly, no sign of the bare 18V JobMax tool.

Checking for availability at local stores none within 50 miles stock it.

Guess its an internet only buy for $69.99

Not that I want or need one, just wondering how long I've been asleep. :-)

The 18v version is now available in store. At least it is at the HD I was just at. I just saw 3 of them on the shelf next to the other single item X4 stuff for $99.

For those of you unsure about using the oscillating tool AKA JOBMAX....

Purchase the November 2012 issue of "The Family Handyman" magazine.
[disclaimer..I do not work for the magazine]

On page 31 they have a very good article on oscillating tool tips.
Basically photos of different uses and a description by a pro-user.

It also explains what blade to use for what task.
