  • Chop Saw Motor/Drive Shaft Gear Stripped, Trash or Rebuild?

Picked up a Ridgid 10" chop saw for $5 at a garage sale. It was acting up, but now the blade does not turn at all. I pulled it apart and the worm gear from the motor... to the blade drive shaft gear, both are worn down. That connection was full of metal shaving. Is this something worth attempting to fix or is this a death sentence?

Probably the easiest way to figure out whether or not it's worth fixing is to go to ereplacementparts.com. You can look up the model number there and see how much the parts to fix it will cost you.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the "John" and renamed it the "Jim". I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
