One of the guys at work suggest that I replace the gas cap if this problem continues, citing that it may be the culprit.

Is a 50 Amp Extension Cord okay to use with this generator? Or 30 Amp must be used with 30 Amp no ifs ands or buts?

Also is a 50 Amp Transfer Switch doable with this generator than say the 30 Amp Transfer Switch?

A 50 amp extension cord is fine. A 50 amp transfer switch is also fine, but make sure you keep it on a 30 amp circuit breaker. Having extra capacity in a cord and a switch doesn't pose any problems; however, if your safety device (i.e. the circuit breaker) is set over the intended operational threshold for the generator, it can allow too much current to pass through the breaker and that can cause you electrical problems in the event of a short.
