  • Rigid Pressure Washer Model#RD80704

My pressure washer is approximately 1.5 years old and has always worked great until a few weeks ago. I started it up as usual and as soon as I turned on the water from my house it idled up to wide open and stayed that way even I wasn't discharging water from the wand. So my problem is simply that the Idle down technology has apparently left the building. It runs at full throttle until you shut it off. Then due to this issue I am, sure it begins to discharge water out of the pressure relief valve. I am not pressure washer mechanic but would like to see if someone can help me diagnose this problem so that I can fix it without throwing a parts shower at it. Thanks in advance.

PS: I am thinking either the idle down plug, thermal release valve or the idle down assembly.

Three year warranty. Tinkering with it yourself voids the warranty. Take it to a service center.

Cool. The date on the tag says "Date code: 5/16/11". This unit should be under warranty I'm guessing?

Most service centers have been around the block a time or two and will require a purchase receipt to verify not only the purchase date, but also to be sure your unit wasn't a reconditioned or returned unit, and that you are indeed the original owner of the unit. The date code doesn't reveal any of that.

Gotcha. Thanks I do have the original purchase receipt. 7/1/11.
