  • Changing planer blades - cannot loosen square head nuts

I have a TP13002 13" planer and cannot loosen ANY of the square head nuts that hold the blades (knives) in place. Looking at the blade from the outfeed side of the planet, which way are these supposed to turn? Also, any suggestions for loosening them
(Besides Wd-40 which I have already tried).

PB Blaster Penetrating Catalyst works very well for me to loosen stubborn bolts. Just spray a little around the head, let it sit 10-20 minutes and they usually loosen right up. YRMV.

Make sure you are using a decent wrench too. The little one that comes with the planer easily mishapees, and can strip the heads of the bolts.

Just curious once you get them loose if applying a light coating of anti seize would allow easier future removal?
