  • Motor Failure - ms12500 miter saw

Need some experienced advice. I have the ms12500 miter saw, and unfortunately overloaded the motor - now it smokes and smells like something's burning when it runs for 10 seconds or more.

The brushes seem ok. They are both slightly longer than an inch.

What else could be burning/failing? Could this be a simple repair?

    R.

Okay, it is a simple "fix" - replace the motor! At almost $300, I'm not sure it's worth it.

I spoke with authorized service centers - and they will only replace the motor, not repair it.

Go to the yellow pages look for Central Armature, I'm guessing trying to remember the name. Anyway, they are an electrical motor repair place that might be just the ticket for you. I'm pretty sure they are located between you & DC. They re-built some reefer compresors for me at a tenth the cost of replacement.
