  • Ridgid's SG4000 Wet/Dry Vac

I went out today to buy me a new Ridgid Wet Dry Vac for late Christmas gift for my workshop and ended up deciding on the SG4000 from Home Depot. It's a fancy wall hanging type with all the fittings included. It's similar in design to the WD4050.
This thing is very cool. The suction on this thing is awsome plus it is much quieter than my old Ridgid Vac. I am digging on this vac. The wall hanger rack is nice. I hate having to roll my big vac around and having it fall over every two minutes. This model takes care of all that with 20' of hose in the kit. My workshop has never been cleaner. If you are looking for new shop vac-give this one a close look.

      Hey Papadan,

The vac originally sold for $89 but the price dropped a few weeks ago to $79.
You won't see any info on it at the Ridgid Site because it's only made for HD exclusively.
This unit outpowers my older Ridgid 16 Gal Vac by far and is much quieter.

I too just picked a new shop vac. Instead of the one that you are talking about, I picked up the 1665 I think the number is. It is 16 gallon, 6 hp, that also has a detachable leaf blower. Original asking price is $99. The sales price was $69 and came with a stinger vac. I haven't played with either yet, but I think that the stinger will be great for cleaning up the tools and the work bench. I thought that the pricee was too good to pass up.

Jim, there was a guy that spent some time on this forum awhile ago that used his Stinger Vac as a dust collector for his ROS. I'm not sure if they have a HEPA filter available for the Stinger but he said it worked for him.

I am one of those guys. Picked up a Stinger over a year ago for $20 and use it for my ROS instead of the little dust cup that came on it (PC) works fantastic for collecting the sanding dust and keeping the motor clean.

I looked at the little stinger and almost bought the same deal as you with the 16 Gal with free stinger but my local HD were decemated after Christmas and they are on backorder until like forever so I just picked up the SG4000 since I didn't need another roll-around-and -tip-over 16 gal model.

Thats a great idea about using it for the ros. the only problem I can see is that the hose may be to short. Can one buy an extesion hose if needed?

The little plastic cup that acts as a dust collector on the dewalts ros keeps falling off. In fact, it broke the last project I did with it. I am looking for a replacement, but now will look to use the stinger instead.

                      THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
