i have dewalt & makita drills and my makita drills are about 17yrs old. i never had a problem with them. my dewalt drill the cluch is going bad ,my reciprocating saw had to be fixed 2 times. i will still get some dewalt tools [ a right angle gringer and sheers ] only because i have a radio,6 batterys, 4 chargers and a newer hammer drill. if i need a new drill i may start a makita collection . all my dewalt tools are 18v , i need the longer run time and power. i thind the type and power tool depends on what kind of work you are doing [ all day , every day , one day a week ,drilling holes , scerws ,ect.]

      dewalt-ridgid

I donot no the cost of the makita, but by working on these tools i will tell the makita is better than the dewalt and the ridgid.I will have to go browse the net to get some prices. milw. must cost alot ,but it has a 5 year warranty and is the better of the three, but i want to tell you that makitas are getting better and are getting closer to milw. in having a agood drill.
