  • new 18V batteries discharge overnight while left on drill

I have 2 18V drills, probably 8 years old or so...I had the early style Li ion 4mah batteries until recently when all but one decided to die. Got the 2 for 1 deal at HD around christmas time and I've noticed that the new batteries (with the charge indicator) will go dead just sitting there plugged into the drill. I grabbed one off of the charger last night to drive 2 screws, tonight it's dead. My one remaining old battery does not discharge just sitting there on the drill, after a week or so of non use. Is this normal? It sure is annoying.

Hi , I have the 18 v brushless hammer drill , circular saw and 16 gauge cordless nail gun. I've left my tools with battery in sometimes for weeks ( do not use for ft work ) and never found a dead battery yet. Even on my nail gun takes a awe full amount of work to drain at all . Try calling Ridgid & good luck.
