  • Ridgid R83001 (14.4v Cordless Drill) question

    Hello,

I just received this cordless drill via an Ebay purchase. Once I had a charged battery on the tool, I gave it a quick test. From the owner's manual, I know that I should see sparks because of the electric brake, but should I be hearing a clinking noise as well (as if there is something loose inside the drill)?

    Thanks,

    David

I don't happen to own this drill/driver but IIRC the noise you're hearing is normal and has something to do with the clutch mechanism I believe.

Is it a Dewalt drill? I have seen (or heard) the same problems from some of are guys. Will this shorten the life of the tool?

        **That noise is normal.**

You'll notice it more in 2nd gear.

Thanks for the information. Just started working with the drill last night and I was very impressed by the torque and balance. It's a heavy drill, but the weight is manageable because it's balanced so well.

          Regards,

          David
