• trying to choose a circular saw....

    Hi all,

I'm trying to choose a circular saw as a holiday present for myself. I'm on a bit of a budget, so I've picked out the Skil 2.5hp saw (the higher-end one of the Skils). I'm not a professional, and won't be needing to rip plywood sheets every week...I just need something around the garage in case I ever need to cut something with a circular saw. Will that be sufficient, do you think? Or do I really need the expensive Porter-Cable or something similarly higher-end?

The other question I have is with circular saw RPMs. This Skil I've picked out specs at 4,600 RPM, while other, better saws generally spec at 5,800. What exactly is the detriment to the Skil's lower RPMs?

lol....never mind. Saw a Makita 5007F on sale at my local Canadian Tire for $129 CAN, with a $30 rebate to boot, and ran out and bought it
