• TS3650 or MS1290LZ ?

I'm looking to buy a TS3650 Table Saw, or a MS1290LZ 12" Sliding Dual Compound Miter Saw. I was needing to know if the Miter Saw can do most of what the TS can, or better. I am wanting to do woodworking in a small shop, maybe some furniture also.

Simple answer, no, the miter saw can not do nearly as many things as the table saw can. Mostly, a miter saw is used for crosscutting whereas a table saw can crosscut and also rip. A table saw can do dado cuts while a miter saw can't and the list goes on and on. These two tools can compliment each other but if you can only buy one, my vote would be for the table saw as its much more versatile.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the "John" and renamed it the "Jim". I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Thanks, I was talking today with guys I work with, some said the MS is as good as a radial arm saw, only being the limit of around 12" CC. Thanks for your reply.
