  • 18V drill clicking noise....

Just wondering if this is normal (I think it is, it sounds like the electric brake working):

When on power setting #2 (high speed), if I have the drill at full speed and let go of the trigger, I get an audible (but not loud or bad-sounding) click and then the chuck stops spinning. The click disappears if Im at a lower speed when I back off the trigger, so it only really happens on 1/2 speed and above. No click heard when in power setting #1 (high torque).

Is this actually the electric brake working?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't think that is a problem. Mine does that and I always attributed it to the chuck coming to a stop and it has never been a problem for me.
    Still enjoying all 10 fingers!

It is gear lash, and is normal the dewalt 18v is the most audible,. It is caused by the drive train coming to an emmediate stop.
