    hey guys this is what I do. I take a 50/50 mix of denatured alchohol and shellac (Zinnsner universal seal coat ) menards carries this in qts and gallons put on over your stained surface and let dry will only take 30 to 45 min. depending on temp.then fine sand with a 400 grit pad and then put on your first coat of poly with a foam brush then additional coats with a cheese cloth and your finish will be protected and it will look like glass.
