Have any of you heard of a LION TRIMMER? If yes, do you have any idea where I might be able to buy one either new or used in good condition? I heard the company that made them was sold and pretty much is history anymore.

They are sort of a sheer for cutting wood. The idea is to get very clean and accurate miter cuts. I'll try to find some good pictures of one and will post once found. They are sort of the "Old Timers'" type of tool that if still made should sell pretty well. I think for most things, I can use my One Person Power miter saw with a 18 TPI blade that looks like a big hacksaw blade.

This web site shows the product and how it's used. When I tried to contact them, I didn't get anywhere and several dealers said they quit making them several years back.

Do a search on Amazon for Miter Trimmer or Sunhill Machinery products or the Sunhill site describes it at http://www.sunhillmachinery.com/MiterTrimmer.htm

Probably most of your older frame shops have one sitting in the corner collecting dust 'cause they don't get used much anymore. Might be worth it to stop in and see if they have one for sale or know of one. Many photographers had these and did their own frames. Might not hurt to try an ad in the wanted section of your local paper or on a public bulletin board at a local camera shop.

I know I have a pile of photographic stuff that never gets used anymore. Need a Beseler 45MX enlarger with condenser and a cold light head and a few lenses? How about a dry mount press or color film processing equipment? I did sell off the majority of my camera equipment years ago for $18K, the darkroom stuff is harder to get rid of. Sorry, no Lion Trimmer in my collection or you would be welcome to it.

Let it be such work that our descendants will thank us for, and let us think, as we lay stone upon stone, that a time is to come when these stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, "See! This our fathers did for us."

                Thanks Bob

I'll try that idea. It was at a place that made custom frames that I first saw a Lion Trimmer some time back. I just kind of want one that's in nice condition but more than likely it wouldn't get used all that much.

Check woodcraft, they list one in the "closeout" section of their website now.
