  • Speed Controller & Old table saw

I currently use my old Craftsmen bench top table saw as a sander, but I would like to slow the RPMs down a bit. It hogs off a lot of material at 5000rpm.

I thought about using a Router speed controller for this. Anyone ever use one of these? Several I have seen can handle up to 20amps(saw is rated at 15amps). Anyone see a problem with doing this?

    Thanks.

If the saw is a direct drive screamer (universal motor) like a router then it will work

      It's a screamer.

      Thanks for the input.
