  • Room Filtering system

I had to replace my furnace, which is finally done. From the old furnace I kept the blower motor and squirrel cage so I can make a room filter system to hang from the floor system since I'm in the basement for a work shop. I looked all over search, for a home made filter system and couldn't find it, I know I saw at least 1 person in here that built there own and pictures to boot. So if you built one can you please let me know how your filtering system was made and pictures would be great. Or if you know where the link is, please send me in the right direction, Thanks for the help...Garager...

    Here's a nice one http://woodcentral.com/shots/shot522.shtml
All you rally need to do is construct a box with an intake for the fan and some guides to hold one or two cheap furnace filters and then, one really good 3-M. Lastly, an outlet for the air. As you can see in the link above he installed a duct so that the air wouldn't circulate directly form exhaust to intake. You could also build a downdraft sanding table (taht's in my plans - someday) and kill the proverbial second bird with one stone. There are several plans on the web for these. I hae them downloaded on the home PC so I can't post them here but if I could find them anybody could.

There are plans in Woodsmith Vol 16 No.95 (Oct. 1994). I used one for years with good results.

I plan on making one someday as well, the only part I have planned out so far is to design it to be able to take readily available high flow small particle filters

Found it, wbrooks had the right one, it will use the same blanket like filter plus 2 other ones. If your up to it check this site out and this is basically what I'll be building shortly. There are a couple of other sites, that are very similar designs but this one shows the blower and squirrel cage I'll be using, mine wont have the surface sander top. It will be enclosed and hanging and act as a room cleaner. Thanks everyone..
