  • dado blades and inserts

i just bought the ts2400(shhhhh dont tell the wife.. already have t3650) and the manual states that only 6" dado stacks can be used. i have a 8" ridge carbide stack and 8" freud. is the 6" dado a hard and fast rule or is 8 ok to use if i just take many light passes?

what is the overall experience of buying zc inserts as opposed to making them?

If the manual states to only use 6" dado sets on the saw then that would seem to be the prudent way to go.

It's been my experience with ZCI's that the store bought versions are more expensive than the ones you make yourself. Both work equally well.

I asked RIDGID tech support about this. They said the manual was a little bit wrong! An 8 inch dad is fine.

thank you burdondog. i just shelled out $159 for the ridge carbide dado last weekend at the woodworking show. i couldnt justify another purchase at this point in time.
