  • Radial Arm Saw vs Miter Saw

What do you use a radial arm saw for?

Can a RAS replace a miter saw on a short haul?

Reason that I am asking is that Home Depot has the radial saw for only $323.40

    Techie,

The RAS can do anything a CMS can do and more, but it lacks portability. If that is not an issue, this looks like a great buy assuming you have room in your shop. A RAS is great for cutting long boards that are a real pain to cut on a TS. They are also great at cutting dados. The price is a lot less that a sliding CMS and you get a lot more saw if the portability and available space are not issues.

Portability is not an issue as this is for my home shop.

Thanks a lot for your response.
