  • Jig finishing

I am building some jigs, cross cut sled, mitre sled, panel cutting sled, etc. What is the best way to finish it? Nothing at all, or varnish?

I've just recently built two similar jigs, but I haven't really used them much yet. My feeling is that I will not finish them, because I don't want my project wood sliding, I only want the jig to slide. Make sense?

With the jigs described-----you'd only want the bottom to be slick, but the top shouldn't be slick. Don't know if finishing one side (couple coats of poly') would ask for trouble, if you didn't finish the top. Generally, I just coat sliding parts with wax before I'm ready to start using them on a project.
