  • Thickness of Homemade TS Insert

I have a 2424 and would like to make an insert to work with my dado blade.

The factory insert, which I plan on using as a template, is only ~1/8" thick and rests in a groove that is ~1/8" below the table top. If I make an insert out of wood, should it only be 1/8"? It seems like it would be awfully flimsy.

The only other thing I can think of is to make the insert 1/4" or so thick and rabbet the edges so it sits flush with the table.

If someone could help me with this, I certainly would appreciate it. I feel like I am missing something obvious.
