When an aux fence is attached should I slide the rails to the right and "zero" out the rail scale or just use a tape measure to locate the fence or just use a nominal measurement that is close to the width of the aux fence material. I am just curious about this and probably all of these are acceptable. But I would like to hear other more experienced woodworkers opinion on this as I am sure I will. Is the aux fence just a protection device to keep the blade farther from the fence and keep the chance of a blade/fence strike down?
