  • Removing pitch from band saw tires

How does everyone remove the pitch/build-up on their band saw tires. Normally I just use steel wool and they come out fine, but this time I have a lot of build up (I cut some treated lumber recently and I'm guessing that was the culprit). I tired my usual methods (steel wool and/or putty knife) and the big stuff came off like it usually does, but this time some stuff is still on the tires that doesn't want to come off. I thought about alcohol and other solvents, but I'm afraid they might harm the rubber. Any suggestions???

I use DNA (denatured alcohol) on mine and haven't had a problem. Also use it to clean the pine pitch off the blade.
