I have a lot of left over cedar from a recent cabin I have just built, I also have a ton of coolers that I dont use, so I have decided to build some "cowboy coolers", but...I am not sure how to go about it ... Can anyone help me out with an idea or design?

We Northerners (at least some of us) don't know what you mean by "cowboy coolers".

Go to Google and type in cowboy cooler. There are some sites with pictures that will give you some ideas to design your own. Basically, they are a box built around a cooler.

          Littlelano:

The Woodworking Channel (http://www.woodworkingchannel.com) carries a show called, "The Great British Workshop" with David Free. If you scroll through the available shows, you'll find one called, "The Drinks Chest".

Enjoy the show as I believe this may provide some assistance.

I guess that you're talking 'drink coolers' and not 'swamp coolers' here, because I doubt that you'd have a lot of the latter laying around. You might just use construction adhesive and attach the cedar to the sides (you didn't mention if this is cedar shingles or siding or half-rounds). You could lay them on diagonally for a different effect. Hmmm, just think of other patterns and start playing with it. Lay the cooler on its side and work with designs so that you don't have to make them stick while you design. I could see this being a fun project. I say, 'Full speed ahead and dam the torpedos'. (or, whatever, LOL!).
