Re: Wood worker needs to cut metal.

We are still waiting for more details as to what metal you plan to cut.

Bottom line is wood working tools do not fair well in metal work. EVER!!!!

If you can't afford the safe and proper tools to cut your metal then consider renting the tools or finding someone with the proper tools to make your cuts.

Now, if you are thinking of cutting steel studs a good tin snips will do just fine
be sure to wear gloves and eye protection.

A reciprocating saw can also, with the proper blade cut some metals with minimal challenges. Such as aluminum, re-bar, mild steel-18-20ga steel tubing.

A chop saw is indeed an excellent tool for cutting metals.

Then a plasma cutter is even better for accurate cutting.

Bottom line, short cuts and improper tool use introduce accidents and unsafe conditions.

Buy a cheap 4" or 5" angle grinder from Harbor Freight and install a cut-off wheel. Take shallow cuts if it's thick stuff. Wear ur safety glasses definitely.
