  • Ordering frustration

Well, it's my turn to experience the frustration with trying to order from Ridgid. I recall someone having trouble getting table inserts for their BS1401 so now it's my turn. If you haven't tried to order on their site it's like a test of your nerves to keep from tossing the computer across the room. Geez, why does this have to be so painful?! I managed to find the switch for my Wet/Dry vac pretty quickly but it's like they don't even carry a BS at all. Just venting folks. Apologies.

    Try ordering your parts here.

      Re: Ordering frustration

Perhaps it's the particular tool, but I just ordered a new hook & loop disk for my ROS through Ridgid Parts. I was rather impressed how easy it was. The illustration could have been better (I'm always critical of illustrations... even my own), but everything worked great and I had my part ordered within a few minutes. I ordered it on the 7th and it arrived on the 14th.

        Re: Ordering frustration

I guess I'm asking too much of Ridgid and the M & D site, Dave. There's some kind of separation between their machine tools and their vacs. On the M&D I go to the BS table inserts but they don't list the WD16650 wet/dry vac. I went to their link to the vacs but Ridgid isn't on the list. I suppose I have to face it that I'm going to have to pay two shipping charges. None of this is urgent so I have time to search. Thanks!

I was right about the separation between machine tools and the vacs. Here's their reply:

Your E-mail message has been recieved by the Ridgid wood working power tool division in their E-mail communications system, which is a closed system with no exporting of customer data allowed due to privacy restrictions.

Your question regarding the various products manufactured and supported by the Ridgid plumbing tool division like: wet tile saws/threading machines/plumbing equipment/plumbing tools/SHOP-VACS/dust collectors/and compressors will need to be directed to the Ridgid plumbing supply and plumbing tool divisions correct link on the Ridgid web site for response. This is the reason that I was frustrated. An * beside some sort of note stating this separtion even exists would be helpful. Otherwise, I guess there's no issue.

            Re: Ordering frustration

Sorry for your pain. I too think it is confusing and difficult to get parts from RIDGID for number of their products. The problem seems to be mostly on the woodworking side though.

As a consumer I don't care about dealing with OWT, Emerson, or any other source for RIDGID branded tools. It says RIDGID on the product and that is all I should need to know to get the parts or accessories I need.
Everyone knocks Sears/Craftsman products. Most of the products they sell are made for them by someone else as we all know. Can you imagine if you had to wade through that sea of vendors to get parts?

Any time I have ever needed a part for a product sold by Sears I have used the Sears Parts site and never had a problem with ordering. Some times parts are no longer available (but I have found parts for many tools over 20 years old still available), or there is an extended lead time, but you are told this up front. When I have called because the web site didn't give me the answers I needed or I had some special situation their CS people have always been very helpful. I am sure there are a hundred horror stories about ordering from Sears, and just as many good ones. I find the ratio of good to bad for RIDGID (mostly for the WWing side) to be something less equitable, with the negatives holding the lead. Maybe it has to do with OWT just "renting" the RIDGID name to put on their tools. And I say that because RIDGID seems to keep themselves at arms length from the woodworking tools that bear their name. On the plumbing tools side where their name is their reputation and livelihood they seem to take the matter a little more seriously.

If they can't figure out how to seamlessly mesh their parts systems then maybe they shouldn't be in bed selling tools.

I doubt it will change because it has been this way for 5 years or more (search the forums) so like it or lump it.

Just calling it how I see it, your experience may vary (better or worse).

This isn't a commentary on Ridgid but just another of those, "the way it is" comments.

One of my relatives ordered with them sometimes ago, but their parts were easy to fall off, so, he stopped using them now.
