How well does Melamine coated panals stand up to rain/weather? I am in a very sunny, mostly dry climate with 2-3 rainy months. Second question, do you know of any commercially available tarps/covers sized right to protect 4x8 foot panals of plywood?

    Thanks.

    Re: Panel Storage

i am fairly certain that the usual melamine panels, the core of which is pressed wood shavings and glue, is not weather proof. water causes any exposed core surfaces to swell as the wood fibers absorb moisture, causing distortions to the melamine surface. i keep the exposed cores of any melamine panels as far away from moisture as possible.
there's a solution to every problem.....you just have to be willing to find it.

Moisture and Melamine Panels don't mix! just try wetting a scrap piece and watch what happens.
