    I know planer bades are two sided, what about jointer blades.

    Jointer bl;ades are single sided, but thicker and sharpenable. Most people will agree that if done correctly, you could get about 6 sharpenings per set.

    That said, i have a big nick in mine off to one edge and I may need to buy a new set sometime soon for my JPO610.

        Nicks are a different breed other than just dull blades. Dull blades can be resharpened until there is not enough material left for the jack screws to keep a firm hold on. Nicks on the other hand; well, to remove the nick you have to remove a greater amount of material, making them smaller, faster. Less sharpenings. Unless you can live with a nick in one blade and offset it with the rest. Most nicks occur in all blades and require a more rapid replacement.
