  • replacement parts

While I was roaming around the Internet this afternoon, I came upon a site (maintained by Ridgid?) where parts for various Ridgid machines can be ordered on line. Even though I live in Canada and these parts and their prices are from the States, that doesn't concern me as much as the availability of the parts. While lurking on this and other forums, the general consensus when it comes to parts for Ridgid machines is that they are difficult to get. What I am looking for is new knives for my jointer and I would rather use genuine replacement parts than knockoffs. Do any of you have trouble getting genuine Ridgid replacement parts?
    Thanks.

Well, this is intresting. Here is the link to the blades on the Ridgid Parts site AC8600 if you click order you go to the shopping cart but no parts are in it. Hmmm maybe it is hard to order parts from Ridgid.

Here is the states Home Depot has a clearance on them for $12.00 a set.

Do you have a Home Depot up north?

I have never done it so i don't know the issues but could someone here in the states buy a set and mail it to you?

I have tried getting the Home Depot near where I live to bring in a couple of sets of jointer knives for me so I would have a spare but they don't seem to be too interested in providing customer sevice to someone who isn't buying the new Ridgid tools. The answer I get is "we can't get any. Try a generic set from a sharpening shop". The last sharpening shop I phoned wanted $42 CDN for a set of generic blades and that's way too much money.

It's funny, Rick, that when I click on the link you provided to the AC8600 planer blades, a message comes up say there are no repair parts available at this time but yet, you say the same knives are on sale at HD in the States for $12 a set. I wonder what gives?

Got me... If you go to this link Blade Assembly it is an exploded view of the blade assembly indicating the blade as item 3 yet in the parts list there is no item 3.

I guess you need to call customer service

It's funny, but after all this talk about the lack of jointer blades at HD, when I was in there this afternoon, I picked up a set of 6 1/8" blades for $39.95 CDN. I realize that it's not the $12 USD that is being paid south of the border this weekend, but it's better than buying generic blades at more money than this.

Good job Mike. Glad you found a set. That is very close to the normal price here I think.
