  • planers ?

I"m going to buy a planer and I don't want to spend more than $400 any suggestions? I know Ridgid has one at that price,( 13" ) does anyone have any advice on it? Thanks!

    Re: planers ?

Lots of people on this forum have this planer. I do too.
It's a decent machine and after about 8 months of use I don't have any serious complaints.

Might want to take a look around your local Home Depots....they started changing the clearance price on the DeWalt DW735 planer around here. I picked one up for the updated price of $274 (!!!) and used a 10% off coupon on top of that.

It always amazes me the differences in prices at HD depending on the market. I was in both of the HD stores in my immediate area this week. The older store no longer has inventory on the DW735. The newer store (not quite a year old) has at least one in stock...discount price: $411.00

Even in the same market the prices are funky.

Local (1/4 mile away) store has it for $411. Not so local (9 miles away, still the same market being so close) has it for $274.

8 years ago I didn't know thickness planers existed

I've had the planer for about a year and it works flawlessly. I love the repeat a cut feature too. I've also read rave reviews on the DeWalt Planer. Both of these planers are rated as Top Tools in Wood Magazine.

I really like my DW735. It is now on sale at Sears for $486. Was $649?

I picked up the Craftsman 13" Professional Planer this year. Second project and love it. It got as good or better reviews as the DW735 and was less. I would get one again.
