Re: Transporting lumber home without a truck

When I moved to Florida, I had a permanent hitch added to my Subaru WRX. I towed a U-Haul from Massachusetts to Florida. (you should have seen the looks I got as I passed vehicles going under the limit on 95. With its large wheels, I could not even feel the trailer).

In Florida, I bought one of those folding trailers at HF and it is indispensable. The frame is 4' X 8' when unfolded. I added a plywood floor so I can easily carry plywood, drywall, MDF, lumber and other construction stuff. I have carried furniture for friends that do not have trucks or vans.

When the rider mower needs service, I screw wheel chocks to the floor and strap the mower down.

I built 2 1/2 foot high removable side/end panels so I can haul bulk mulch for my landscaping needs.

When not in use, the trailer stores in a 5' by 2' footprint in the garage, I mean workshop, and I still can enjoy driving my WRX.
