  • Belt shudder

I put a Freud blade on my TS3650 yesterday and it's doing a strange thing. About 4 or 5 seconds after I shut the saw off, I get a big shudder from the motor/belt assembly as it's coasting to a stop. It seems to happen just about the time that the speed sensor collapses. I know the blade is true and balanced because I just took off another saw where it was working fine.

I also get a "clank" when the saw starts but that was happening before I changed blades. This is my first belt-driven saw so I don't know what to expect regarding noise and vibration. Any thoughts?

Sounds to me like you don't have the belt tensioned correctly. The fix is probably as simple as just getting out the manual and running through the belt setup again.
