    It probably isn't going to be showroom quality by any means but hey ... I'm having fun

    The wood grain and color looks weird in the pics for some reason. It doesn't really look like that.

      3/4" maple with a 1" maple trim. Not sure what to use for a finish yet but I was hoping for the more natural look.

        FWIW, when I'm looking for a natural finish, I usually stick with BLO (boiled linseed oil).

        I've recently also had good results with Tung oil.

        Lee Valley sells polymerized versions of each which dry faster then the standard oils (which take forever to dry).

          To keep the natural look, with surface protection.
          I use a satin finish clear coat, conversion varnish although the make escapes
          me at the moment. However, I am a pro painter by trade, anyone literally could spray
          this stuff. It is nearly impossible to have it sag.
